Some time before the new year, I did a review on my favorite make-up remover: the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. As mentioned in that post, I've only been able to get them at Duty Free. Since I'm running low, I've had search for an alternative. No, I'm not going to stop using the Neutrogena ones. However, as I don't forsee a trip to Manila in the near future, I'll have to make do with what I can get in the local drugstores and department stores. Thus the subject of today's post: the Celeteque DermoScience Make-up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes.
A pack of the Celeteque facial wipes has 20 sheets inside. The product is part of Celeteque's hydration line geared towards improving the level of moisture in the skin while removing all traces of make-up, oil and dirt (or so it says on the packaging). I hoped that the last part would, at least, prove true.
When I first pulled out a towelette, I was pretty disappointed. It was a little dry. There were times that I had to spritz water on the material just so it didn't dry up entirely. I'm not sure if I got a bad pack or if they're actually made that way. Whatever the case, removing my make-up felt more like I was scraping rather than sweeping.
Another thing I didn't like was that the make-up wipes did not fare well against dark eye make-up. Even waterproof formulas were no match for the towelettes by Neutrogena. I can't say the same for these ones. I had to attack my eye with a cotton round and a different make-up remover every night. I know that most people probably keep a different make-up remover for eye make-up anyway, but the convenience of being able to get everything off with just one product was a Godsend to me. I'd hoped to still be able to keep it at one step.
As to the moisturizing properties, I have not seen a significant improvement. Truth be told, I wasn't looking out for it. But I would have overlooked that entirely had it only given me the ease that the Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes did.
So, no. The Celeteque DermoScience Make-up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes will not serve as my alternative make-up remover. I have one pack left but, if I can help it, that is, find another make-up remover (preferably on that comes in wipes), I won't get it again.
Celeteque DermoScience Make-up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes are available at all leading drugstores, department stores and supermarkets. I got mine at the Watsons closest to my house for Php160.
'til next time,
Maite
