Moving on...

I picked up a box of these little lip glosses while I was in Duty Free with my family. They weren't what caught my attention initially, but I passed them on the way to the check out counter so I put them in my cart last minute. I thought, "10 shades for $35 dollars. How could this go wrong?" I spoke too soon.

The Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine Mini Duos disappointed me. I should have thought about the buy before just tossing the box into my cart. They weren't kidding when they called them minis. I didn't even stop to think about how 10 lip glosses would fit into such a tiny box! I could just hit myself For making that mistake. I won't though. I think doling out all that cash for something that I didn't even end up liking is punishment enough.

Let me get into what I didn't like about these. First, though double-ended, a single duo does not even match the length of a ballpen. In fact, the entire duo is about the length of a cotton bud. Right out of the box I thought, "Uh oh!" Sure, I could still read the colors off of the butt of the tubes. Barely though. Also, when I finally brought myself to check the applicator, I saw that it was smaller than the head of the cotton bud. I had to dip the applicator in the tube more than once just to be able to sweep product on my entire lip. It's ridiculous!

Second, I find the product itself to be too sticky. Some women might find this to be a non-issue. In fact, some women might even prefer stickier lip glosses. I, however, am not one of them. I didn't like how it felt when I rubbed my lips together. I recall the days when I used to play with Elmer's Glue. I'd let it dry on my hand on purpose and try to pull my fingers apart. It felt like that, except on my lips instead of my fingers.

Lastly, though the colors looked so pretty in the tube, when I tried them on a lot of them looked the same. I don't see the point in making a set of lip glosses with similar shades. One good thing I did find about these is that you don't really notice the glitter particles once you have them on.

1st row L-R: Peach Plump, Glamourfull, Ripest Apricot, Mimosa Bloom, Soooo Pink
2nd row L-R: Play-full Plump, Cherry Bomb, Luscious Lilac, Double Plum, Pink Aplenty

I'm sorry I can't put up photos of the product on my lips because they are in an unfortunate state at the moment. I did, however, swatch them on my arm so I could share them with you.

To sum it all up, I didn't like the Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine Mini Duos at all. They're tiny, they're sticky and they all look the same. I probably wouldn't have minded the size so much if I liked the formula. Sad to say, that isn't the case. I'm not saying that they're bad. Others might love these travel-sized lip glosses. I showed them to my cousin Katrina and she thought they were adorable, To each her own, I guess.

'til next time,
Maite

  1. Oh, that's sad that the color and texture are quite sub-standard, knowing they are Clinique, after all.

    1. I had high hopes because they were Clinique. I wouldn't go so far as to call them substandard. They just didn't fall in with my expectations. :)

The price is really a steal thinking that its clinique plus it has 10 lipgloss!
But too bad the color and the formula is quite disappointing =( I, myself hates sticky gloss too as they are just too irritating as my hair always get stuck especially when I did the Charlie's angel thing "flip your godamn hair!" haha~

    1. My hair gets in my face all the time too. I hate it when that happens. At the end of the day, I have more makeup innnn my hair than my face
