Make-over - Night Out

Last Friday night, my cousin Katrina managed to ambush me into doing her make-up for Tilt's Black Party. I ended up doing hers as well as three of her friends'. Not that I'm complaining. I needed this impromptu gig. I needed the practice.

I wish I'd had the forethought to take before and after pictures of each of them.

L-R: Katrina, Joyce, Maan and Clarice.

Katrina wanted to wear a red lip so I went pretty easy on the eyes. She has a thin liner along the lid and some neutral shadows. I contoured along her cheeks and jaw to slim it down and applied a bright pink blush to the apples. She has a matte red lip cream on and I conviced her to run a clear gloss over it.

Maan is what we in the Philippines call a chinita. With her, I had to use darker shades and thicker lines to really open up her eyes. Though you can't really see it in this shot, they're smoked out. Her cheeks are also contoured but in a shade lighter than the one I used on Katrina. I then lined and filled her lips with a dark red lipstick, then went over the middle with more of an orange color. I then topped it off with some clear gloss.

With Clarice I used mostly light browns and grays on the eyes. I lined both upper and lower lash lines as well as upper and lower waterlines. I used a nude lip cream on her and topped it off with a nude gloss. I also filled in her brows to make them appear fuller.

With Joyce's eyes i decided to use more color. I used a few shades of purple then smoked it out with some dark blue and black. Her lashes were so long and full that I barely had to line her eyes. I used softer pinks on her cheeks and lips.

I'll be sure to take solo pictures the next time I do one of these.

'til next time,

Update - What I'm Taking to Singapore

Operation Bag Pack is underway!

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I'll be off to Singapore in a few weeks. Being the girl scout that I am, I stressed about what to pack even before we received our booking confirmation. I picked out a stroller, had name tags made, set aside the clothes I wanted to take with me, and even tied little pink ribbons to my bag so I would know it was mine. I was a packing superstar!

Then I hit a wall. The most stressful task turned out to be picking out beauty products. You see, I promised myself I would only take what would fit into the two beautiful blue bags you see below.

It took me a while to decide, but I finally narrowed it down to the following products:

Eyes:
1 Eyelid Primer
  • E.L.F. Eyelid Primer in Sheer

2 Eyeshadow Quads
  • Ulta Eyeshadow Quad in Good Girl
  • Maybelline EyeStudio Eyeshadow Quad in GD-1 Autumn Spirit
1 Single Eyeshadow
  • NYX Eyeshadow in 01 Black
3 Eyeliners
  • E.L.F. Brightening Eyeliner in Ash
  • E.L.F. Brightening Eyeliner in Coffee
  • NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil in 918 White Pearl
1 Lash Curler
  • Shu Uemura Lash Curler
1 Mascara
  • Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara

Face:
1 Primer
  • X-Out Shine Control
1 BB Cream
  • Skin79 Super Plus Beblesh Balm
1 Contouring Kit
  • E.L.F. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in Blushed/Bronzed

Brows:
1 Brow Gel
  • Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel

Lips:
  • Maybelline Baby Lips
2 Lip Glosses
  • James Cooper Jazzy Collection Lip Gloss in LGF-004
  • L'Oreal Paris Glam Shin 6H in Creamy Peach
1 Lip Stick
  • Fran Wilson Mood Matcher in Orange

I actually practiced going through my days with only these products. With the help a few of my favorite Youtube gurus, I was able to create a few looks that I found to be perfect for Summer.

That, however, is for another day.

What products do you take with you when on vacation?

Update - Where Have I Been?

I know I've pretty much fallen off the grid AGAIN. I've been pretty busy. For the most part, I've been travelling and preparing for travel. I'm actually writing from Bohol right now and in a few weeks I'll be leaving for Singapore. I am definitely making the most of my summer vacation.

I've spent most of my time here at the beach or by the pool, so aside from a lot of sun screen and a bit of color for my lips, I haven't worked a lot of products. I'm looking to change that as soon as I get home. And yes, I'll be bringing my make-up bag to Singapore so you will be hearing from me even when I'm vacationing. I'm hoping to get a little shopping done there too!

That's it, I guess. For now, I have to deal with the fact that no matter how long I sit under the sun, I cannot get a tan!

'til next time,
