Moving on...

I don't know what possessed me to get something called a Chubby Stick. I was walking through Duty Free with my family and as soon as we passed the tower of little boxes, I was stuck. I didn't understand the image on the cover. I thought, "Is it a lipstick?" "Do you sharpen it?" "Why does it look like a child's jumbo crayon?" I was fascinated. Truth be told, if my mother and grandmother hadn't suggested we buy one and take a Chubby Stick each (it came in a box of three), I would never have left the Clinique counter. I rationalized that with us splitting the $45, it wouldn't end up being so expensive. That probably isn't true but I like to tell myself it is. I left the store praying that I didn't just spend a whole lot of money on a giant crayon... called a CHUBBY STICK.

The first thing I did once I got mine open was check if I needed to find a supersized sharpener. Thankfully, the mondo lip pencil is twistable. I read that for earlier releases, this wasn't the case. The twistable Chubby Stick was an innovation to the old design which ended up next to useless once it was a chubby stump. Good thing too! Sharpeners that big are in short supply.

L-R: Whole Lotta Honey, Woppin' Watermelon, Mega Melon

I found the product itself to be really moisturizing, though the color payoff isn't as rich as say, the Revlon ColorStay Lip Butters. The colors are pretty sheer on the lips but they keep them well hydrated for a few hours at least.

Mega Melon

Whole Lotta Honey

Woppin' Watermelon

There is also no noticeable smell or taste to these Chubby Sticks, for which I am thankful.

In sum, the Clinique Chubby Sticks, though named like a popsicle, are in fact excellent. They are extremely moisturizing on the lips and they keep them hydrated throughout the day. The sheer colors are perfect for simple every day looks. The only downside I see to these is that they are pretty pricey. I would like to get more colors, but that will have to wait until after the semester ends.

'til next time,
Maite

  6. You are correct Maite, it’s a little bit pricey at $45 for 3 lippies, good thing the chubby sticks didn’t disappoint you.
